I am Rachel D. Dias. I completed by 10th from Hutching’s High School – Pune, 12th from Carmel’s Higher Secondary School – Goa, Bachelor’s in English from CES’s Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) – Goa, and my Master’s in English from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce (Autonomous) – Pune. I have always excelled in all my academic and extra-curricular activities, having secured distinction and Grade “O” at all levels of my journey as a student.
It has been a full circle, being accepted to work with my alma mater as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the PG English Programme. I have received various accolades such as the Best Student Award conferred by the Times of India (NIE) in class 10, and the Best Student Award, awarded by the Department of English in Chowgule College. I have won awards in elocution and performance poem competitions. My hobbies include reading, craft, and music.
As an educator, I seek to encourage students to think beyond the classroom. Higher order thinking skills and critical thinking skills is encouraged in my class. I teach subjects related to Poetry, Visual Literature, Modernism, and Literary Theory and Criticism. I encourage constructivist learning and my assessments vary from written tests and essays to podcasts and gallery walks.
