BIO

My name is Dr. Mayuri Gaonkar (Mayuri Naik). I was born and brought up in Goa. I completed my B.Sc. (Chemistry) from Government College, Quepem followed by M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) from Goa University in 2010. I cleared CSIR-UGC-NET with Junior Research Fellowship in 2010. Later, I completed my Ph.D degree under the guidance of Prof. Vijayendra Kamat and Prof. Santosh Tilve from Goa University in 2019. I entered in teaching field in 2016 and have experience of teaching at the postgraduate level (M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry). Since 2017, I am working as an Assistant Professor in Parvatibai Chowgule College.

Five T. Y. B. Sc. chemistry project students under the guidance of Dr. Mayuri Naik presented a poster entitled “Synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one/thione using tomato juice” on T. Y. B. Sc. project work in poster competition held at the annual event of research poster presentation “Prerna Diwas” in Parvatibai Chowgule college, Autonomous on 28th February 2019 to commemorate Science Day/ Prerna Diwas. The poster was awarded 3rd Prize in the category of Faculty of Natural and Earth Sciences.

Convener of an Interclass Chemistry Quiz Competition CHEMQUIZ 2019 organized for first, second and third year chemistry students of Parvatibai Chowgule College on 30th January 2019.
Convener of the Intercollegiate Event KYNESIS 2020 held on 26th February 2020.
Convener of the Poster Competition organized for first, second and third year chemistry students of Parvatibai Chowgule College to commemorate National Science Day 2021.
Organized a Webinar on “EXPLORING RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES IN CHEMISTRY” for Third Year B. Sc. Chemistry students on 27th November 2021 at 03:00 pm onwards using google meet platform. Dr. Dilip V. Vasava, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Gujarat University, Gujarat was the resource person and Dr. Mayuri Naik coordinated the webinar.
Organized a “Rangoli competition” for all the undergraduate students of Parvatibai Chowgule college of Arts and Science, Autonomous to celebrate “GOA@60” in online mode from 21st December 2021 to 04th January 2022.
Organized an activity “Collection and distribution of cloth bags” through the departmental club “Chemzone” for B. Sc. Chemistry students to create social awareness about the harmful effects of plastics to the society.
Organized an activity “Drawing Competition” for undergraduate students through the departmental club “Chemzone” to commemorate International Year of Millets (IyOM) 2023 on theme “BENEFITS OF MILLETS” from 11th September 2023 to 15th September 2023.
Organized an activity “Visit to School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University” for T.Y. B.Sc. Chemistry students on 12/01/2024 as a part of the experiential learning. The students were benefitted to see and understand the working and usage of different sophisticated instruments like NMR, FTIR, BET AES, single crystal XRD, CHNS analyser, UV DRS, HPLC, TG DTA, Photoluminescence, etc. and also visited various research laboratories and exposed to the research work carried out in the chemistry field at School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University.
Organized “e-Poster Competition” in online mode for all the college students to commemorate “National Pollution Control Day” on the theme “Pollution control” from 2nd – 6th December 2024.
Conducted 5 College Journal Club (CJC) monthly activities under RDC-PCCAS in October & December 2024, January, February & March 2025.
Coordinated 4 Research Interaction Series (RIS) activities under RDC-PCCAS in 2024-25.
Organized an activity “Visit to School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University” for T.Y. B.Sc. Chemistry students on 06th March 2025. The visit was planned as a part of the experiential learning.
