These include guest lectures by eminent historians and experts and workshops on historical themes. Educational field trips to heritage sites and museums, provide hands-on exposure to historical sources and conservation practices. Cultural activities such as commemorative events, and history-related competitions encourage student participation and creativity. Together, these activities promote experiential learning, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of history and heritage.
Teaching & Learning method
The History Department adopts diverse teaching–learning methods to enhance conceptual understanding and critical engagement with the past. The teaching–learning methods include insightful lectures that provide conceptual clarity, classroom discussions that encourage active participation and critical reflection, and debates that help students articulate ideas and develop analytical and communication skills. The use of documentaries and audio-visual resources further enhances engagement by bringing historical events and contexts to life, thereby deepening understanding and interest in the subject.
Students also engage in presentations and assignment/project work, to develop research and communication skills. Field-based learning, heritage visits, and experiential activities further strengthen understanding, ensuring an inclusive, participatory, and effective learning environment.
