Kynesis 2025

The intercollegiate fest KYNESIS was successfully organized to provide students with a dynamic platform to showcase their academic, cultural, technical, and creative talents while fostering healthy competition, teamwork, leadership, and innovation. The fest began with an inaugural ceremony at 9:45 AM in the Upper Auditorium, graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ajay Gaude, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, whose inspiring address set an enthusiastic tone for the day. A wide range of engaging events followed, including fashion show, face painting, dance, quiz, treasure hunt, singing, thematic showcase, surprise event, Chem Shark, and a pre-event reel-making competition, ensuring holistic student participation. Students from three colleges participated actively, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere. The fest was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Manjita R. Porob with strong support from Dr. Roopa S. Belurkar and other faculty members, ensuring smooth execution. The valedictory function was graced by Dr. Meghana Devli, Vice Principal, Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous). The fest concluded at 3:00 PM on a successful note, with Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem declared Winners and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa as Runners-up.

Molecular Munch

The ChemZone Club hosted Molecular Munch 2025 on 8th October, where six B.Sc. Chemistry teams showcased their creativity by preparing Goan vegetarian dishes with a surprise ingredient. Judges Mr. Sachin Kakodkar, Ms. Lactina Gonsalves, and Ms. Priyanka praised the teams’ innovation and teamwork. Chem beats: A Vibrant Blend of Rhythm and Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry hosted Chem Beats 2025 on 27th September 2025 — a lively cultural gathering featuring fun games and a joyful garba session. The event offered students a chance to relax, connect, and celebrate together beyond academics.

Catalyst: Recognizing the Support of lab staff

The department organized Catalyst, an event to appreciate the invaluable contributions of our nonteaching staff. Students expressed gratitude through fun activities and games, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere that celebrated their vital role in the department’s smooth functioning.

Honouring the Guiding Lights of Knowledge

On 4th September, our department celebrated Teacher’s Day with enthusiasm and gratitude. Students organized cultural performances, fun activities, and heartfelt speeches to honor their teachers’ guidance and dedication. The event concluded with the felicitation of teachers, making the day memorable and joyful.

Alumini Speaks

The Department of Chemistry organized a talk conducted by Alumnus Ruveen M, Integrated PhD student at IISER Thiruvananthapuram on 5th Jan 2026. The talk provided great insight on “Finding Your Why : A Journey Beyond Marks and Majors”, wherein Mr. Ruveen M elaborated on how he did not focus on grades, but rather picked up on his curiosity and leaned towards gaining more knowledge. He persevered through and followed his passion. The talk revolved around his journey, and he emphasized on how each journey is different, but as long as one works hard, and follows their passion, they will be able to achieve great heights. The session was enriching and helped motivate the Chemistry students.

Workshop on “Know your Microsoft Word”

The Department of Chemistry  organized a workshop on “Know your Microsoft Word” for TYBSc Chemistry students on 23 September 2025. The resource person for this workshop was Mr. Mitendra Alve, Assistant Professor & Coordinator BVoC. The resource person spoke about the various features of Microsoft Word such as document creation, formatting, inserting tables and images, using templates, and review tools. Students gained practical knowledge useful for preparing professional and academic documents. A total of 45 students attended the workshop.

Overview The Department of Chemistry at CES’s Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) was established in the year 1962. Since its inception, the Department has been committed to academic excellence, quality teaching, and meaningful research. The Department is supported by a team of qualified, experienced, and motivated faculty members who are actively involved in teaching and research. Over the last five years, the Department has successfully completed two research projects and has published more than 20 research findings in reputed journals. It has also organized one National-level seminar and two State-level seminars, providing a platform for academic interaction and dissemination of knowledge. The Department is spread over an area of 843 square meters and is well equipped with essential laboratory and instructional facilities. The Department takes pride in its strong student outcomes, with all graduating students being suitably employed. Many students have also brought laurels to the Department by successfully clearing national-level competitive examinations such as NET and SET after completing their post-graduation.
