FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCE Department of Zoology Established in 1962 Overview Department of Zoology is committed to providing high-quality education and research in animal sciences, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The department offers a comprehensive B.Sc. Zoology programme that integrates classical zoology with modern biological sciences, interdisciplinary learning, skill enhancement, and experiential education. The curriculum is designed to build strong foundations in animal diversity, cell and molecular biology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, ecology, wildlife biology, fisheries, biotechnology, and conservation sciences, while also emphasizing environmental sustainability, public health, entrepreneurship, GIS, and data analysis. Value-added, skill enhancement, vocational, and multidisciplinary courses ensure students acquire practical skills, industry exposure, and employability-oriented competencies. Through laboratory training, fieldwork, projects, internships, workshops, and industry–academia interactions, the department nurtures scientific temper, research aptitude, ethical values, and social responsibility. The department aims to prepare students for higher education, research, government and private sector employment, entrepreneurship, and community-oriented careers, contributing meaningfully to health, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and the blue economy.
