Open Day 2026

Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao organized an Open Day 2026, welcoming aspiring students and parents to explore the institution’s dynamic and student-centric academic environment. Vice Principal Dr. Meghana Devli welcomed the gathering. This was followed by a detailed presentation on the college’s academic structure, unique initiatives, and student support systems by Mr. Andrew Baretto, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Dr. Sobita Kirtani, Head In-charge of Psychology and Mr. Mitendra Alve, Assistant Professor, Department of Software Development. Following this, the heads/in-charges/faculty of each department were invited to deliver a one-minute talk, highlighting the unique aspects of their department’s curriculum, student opportunities, and achievements. A total of 35 students attended the same. The event was coordinated by Dr. Bhanumati C Pilli, Dr Sachin Moraes, Dr Uma Masur and Ms. Swati Ghadi.

All India Inter-University Cross Country Championship!

Mr. Ganesh Tamburkar, a student of S.Y. B.Sc. (Geology) was selected as a member of the Goa University Cross Country Men’s Team. He participated in the AIU’s All India Inter-University Cross Country Men’s Championship 2025-26 held on 15th February 2026 at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. His selection and participation in this prestigious university-level championship is a commendable achievement and reflects his dedication and sporting excellence.

Public Speaking Competition – Ingenuity Conclave

Three students from the Department of Economics participated in the public speaking competition titled ‘Ingenuity Conclave’ organized by Agnel Institute of Technology and Development, Assagao, Bardez, Goa. Among 12 participating colleges, the team secured Second Place in the All-Goa competition. The participating students were Ms. Manjiri Pai Dukale (SY), Mr. Ved Prabhu Vadolkar (TY), and Mr. Artham Bortamuly (TY) from the Department of Economics.

Talk on ‘Fascinating World of Enzymes’ – Vidnyan Dhara 2026

As part of the Vidnyan Dhara Mega Series, an initiative of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, an expert talk on ‘Fascinating World of Enzymes’ was organized by the Research and Development Cell (RDC) CES’s Parvatibai of Parvatibai Chowgule College of arts and Science. The session was delivered by Prof. Desirazu N. Rao, Raman Research Chair, Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, and Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. Prof. Rao is an eminent academician in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology. During the session, Prof. Rao discussed the fundamental concepts, mechanisms, and applications of enzymes, highlighting their importance in biological systems and modern scientific research. The session was interactive and well-received by students and faculty. Winners of the RDC–IIC Ideation Competition were felicitated during the programme.

Republic Day Celebration

The College celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26th January, 2026 by unfurling of the National Flag by Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta G. Sankhalkar, Principal of College. She addressed the gathering focusing on working collectively with utmost sincerity and dedication thereby extending cooperation and support for nation building. She appealed to forget all personal differences and abide by the values of our constitution. Ms. Janell Dias, student of TYBA, Department of History also delivered a speech. She shared her vision for the India of tomorrow, highlighting the role of youth in nation-building. This was followed by a cultural program, featuring group patriotic songs performed by NSS Volunteers and a cultural depiction presented by the students of the College based on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’, thereby embodying the spirit of the occasion. The programme concluded with the NCC song.

Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting Championship 2025 – 26

Congratulations Mr. Pushpraj Dilip Naik & Mr. Melysunn Sunny Reevs! We are proud to inform you that our men’s powerlifting team won the Team Championship at the Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting Championship 2025 – 26 securing 2 individual gold medals in the process at Jubilee Hall, Goa University held from 6 to 9 January, 2025. Mr. Pushpraj Dilip Naik (SY B.Sc. Botany-Chemistry) won Gold Medal in the up to & including 120 kg category, lifting a total of 580 kg and qualifying for the Inter-University Championship. Mr. Melysunn Sunny Reevs (FY B.A. Philosophy) won Gold Medal in the above 120 kg category, lifting a total of 525 kg, also qualifying for the Inter-University Championship. The team comprised of Garv Prabhu Gaonkar, Melysunn Sunny Reevs, Tanishq Singh, Sourabh Subhash Raikar and Pushpraj Dilip Naik. We congratulate all the winners for their hard work, dedication and exemplary performance. Their achievements bring great pride to our college and set an inspiring example for fellow students.

Inaugural of the Students Wellness Centre

Talk on Need to foster a supportive and inclusive campus culture in HEIs that promotes the resilience and wellbeing of students The Department of Psychology organized a talk on Need to foster a supportive and inclusive campus culture in HEIs that promotes the resilience and wellbeing of students on 8 January 2026. The resource person was Ms. Tanushree Sharma, Senior Clinician, Sangath. She spoke on mental health concerns and their prevalence in modern society. She focussed on how depression and anxiety can impact one’s relationships, academics, and personal life in general. She urged individuals to seek help in times of dilemmas or crisis. Majorly she stressed on breaking the stigma around mental health. A total of 33 students and 09 faculty members attended the talk.

Congratulations to Mr. Nishant Heggannavar !

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), in association with the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC), introduced the Academic Leadership Programme (ALP)-Batch II for the academic year 2025–2026. This initiative is designed to develop leadership capabilities among senior faculty by focusing on strategic academic leadership, governance, research management, NEP 2020 implementation, and digital transformation in higher education. The second cohort of the ALP, comprising 30 faculty members from various colleges across Goa, including engineering colleges and Goa University, successfully completed their first training module at the Infosys campus in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, held from 9th to 12th September 2025. This cohort was led by Prof. Niyan Marchon, programme director, centre of TLET and TIP GSHEC, Directorate of Higher Education. Among the participants were two faculty members from CES Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Margao, Goa: Prof. (Dr.) S.G. Sankhalkar, Principal, and Dr. Rupali Tamuly, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Economics. The three-day training program included an introduction to Infosys Springboard, a comprehensive digital learning platform aimed at supporting students, faculty, and lifelong learners. Offered free of cost, Springboard provides access to a wide range of educational resources and internship opportunities, emerging as a valuable tool for digital education. This collaborative effort between the Government of Goa, DHE, GSHEC, and industry partner Infosys represents a significant step toward bridging the gap between academic instruction and the evolving demands of industry.
