BIO

My name is Prof. Sameena Fernandes e Falleiro, and I am currently working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Chowgule College. With over 25 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership, I view education as a purposeful means of giving back to society. I believe that life is a divine gift, and through teaching, I continue to nurture potential, inspire learning, and create meaningful impact. I hold a PhD in Educational Technology and presently serve as Dean of Science. My research focuses on ICT-enabled pedagogy, learning management systems, and strengthening teaching–learning practices in higher education.

Selected to participate in the Academic Leadership Programme (ALP Batch 1) of the DHE
UGC Teacher fellowship under XI plan for completion of Ph.D., 2012-2013
Established the Centre for Teaching Learning (CTL) under a RUSA grant of UGC, the first of its kind Centre in the State of Goa in November 2017, currently holding the position of Centre Director of Chowgule CTL.
Selected by Chowgule College to participate in a two-week Faculty-Student Exchange Program at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, November 2016
Pioneered and initiated E-learning in Chowgule College (since 2007) called CLAAP (Chowgule’s Learn Anytime Anyplace) using LMS-MOODLE.
Core member of the College Vision Committee (formulated Vision Statement and Vision Document 2020 for the college).
Selected for participation and paper presentation as at the PCF-7 (Seventh Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning). Open Learning for Development: Towards Empowerment and Transformation in Abuja, Nigeria, 2nd-6th December, 2013; fully sponsored for the same by Common Wealth of Learning (COL).
Awarded ‘Best Paper Award’ for paper titled “Evaluating the type of learning taking place through Learning Management System” at the National Conference cum Workshop on “Enhancing Information Technology Education (EITE)” from 4th January 2016 to 9th January 2016 at NIT, Goa.
