The Department of French organized a skill-building workshop titled “L’art de la rhétorique et de l’argumentation” for its students, with Asst. Professor Shourya Dalvi from the Discipline of French and Francophone Studies, Goa University, serving as the resource person. The workshop aimed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of rhetoric, particularly in the context of media discourse. It focused on helping students understand the key elements of argumentative texts and encouraged them to apply these concepts while creating and analyzing content. The session provided valuable insights into effective communication, critical thinking, and structured argumentation, thereby strengthening students’ analytical and expressive skills in the French language.
The Department of French organized a workshop titled “Mastering Citations with ZOTERO” for its students, conducted by Ms. Gerianne George, alumnus of the Department of French, currently pursuing M.A in French at Goa University. The session aimed to familiarize students with the citation management tool ZOTERO and its application in academic research. The resource person demonstrated how the software can be used to collect, organize, and store research materials efficiently. Students were also introduced to the process of generating in-text citations and bibliographies with ease and accuracy. The workshop proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing students’ research skills and promoting good academic practices, particularly in the preparation of research papers and academic reports.

The objective of the skill building workshop was to introduce the students to basic skills involved in the ‘Art of Translation’ and to inform them about some career prospects in the field of translation. The Department of French organized a workshop titled “Opportunities in the Francophone World and Higher Education in French” conducted by Ms. Risa Cabral. The session aimed to highlight the growing importance of French as an international language and its relevance for Indian students. The resource person discussed the wide range of academic and professional opportunities available in the Francophone world, emphasizing the advantages of combining French with other fields of specialization. The workshop also focused on higher education pathways, international exposure, and networking opportunities through cultural and academic institutions. An interactive session with students and faculty followed, making the workshop informative, engaging, and highly motivating for aspiring learners of French.
