The BA History Programme offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of the past, with a strong regional, national, and global focus. The curriculum integrates core courses on Goan, Indian, and world history with multidisciplinary, vocational, value-added, and skill enhancement courses. Students explore themes such as culture, heritage, archaeology, historiography, constitutional studies, freedom movements, and contemporary global developments. Practical exposure through museology, archives, heritage tourism, teaching, travel and tourism, and project work equips learners with research, analytical, and professional skills, preparing them for careers in academics, heritage management, tourism, education, and public service.

PSO-1: Historical Knowledge, Critical Thinking and Communication Skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of chronology, periodisation, historical narratives, major events, personalities, historical trends and lessons of the past that have effect on present times.
  • Comprehend the political, economic and social structures and factors that have affected the process of history and changes over a period of time
  • Develop critical thinking, effective communicating and writing skills and an appreciation for the subject of History.
  • Integrate knowledge of history, acquire a deeper understanding of the subject and develop a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Analyse the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of History in a wider perspective.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching History, heritage tourism, museum curation and archival management in theory and practice.
  • Comprehend the changing historiographical trends in the world and develop critical thinking skills.
  • Analyse primary and secondary sources, develop a spirit of critical inquiry and historical research.
  • Develop an understanding of research methodology in History.
  • Appreciate human values of mutual respect and acceptance of diverse cultures.
