The BA Program in Konkani is driven by its objective to create awareness amongst its students. The syllabi are specially designed to emphasize literature courses, skill-based courses, and contemporary literary courses. Students who have completed their HSSCE in any stream, well-verse in Konkani and interested in the study of Konkani Language and Literature are eligible to take this course. The students interested in pursuing graduation in Konkani should have passed HSSCE (10+2) with Konkani as a subject. The student should be confident in expression, verbal or literary through presentation or through assignments. We impress on participation of students in all academic activities. The programme offers career related courses like Literary criticism, Linguistics and in the field of Media through courses like History of Konkani Language and Literature, History of Konkani Language Movement, Study of Konkani Folklore, Critical Study of Konkani Dialects and modern trends in the Konkani Literature. So, we in Konkani department would like to focus on the Socio-Literary, Socio-Cultural and Socio-Historical study of Konkani Language.

On successful completion of the said course, students will be able to achieve basic skills to work as Teacher, Editor, News Reader, Radio and TV Anchor, Proof reader, Critiques etc. They can also specialize further in fields related to Konkani Language & Literature. They can also join the field of creative writing and research.
- Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
PSO-1: Basic Study of Language & Society
Students will be able to interpret the History of Konkani Language, can have Comparative study of Konkani Literature, can do analytical Study of Konkani Folklore and can Critically evaluate different modern trends in the Konkani Literature.
PSO-2: Different Skills of Language
The basic skills in teaching to work as Teacher and instructor will be achieved by the students which will enrich their instructional strategy to peruse further Higher education in concerned field.
PSO-3: Development of professional Skills
The basic skills in Journalism to work as Editor, Reporters, News Reader, Radio and TV Anchor, Proof readers, Translator and Critiques in print as well as Electronic Media can attained
PSO-4: Development of Creativity
Students will be able to build up Communication Skill, writing skill and other performing skills through the non- academic activities such as street plays, one-act plays, folk dance, creative writing etc.
PSO-5: Literary Study
Students will be able to analyses, appreciate and examine the different genre of Literature and develop analytical skills pertaining to literary criticism.
PSO-6: Critical Thinking
Students will be able to think sensibly and can have multidimensional approach to overcome different circumstances through the various socio-literary curriculum designed by the department. The holistic development of students opting Konkani will be attained with the successful completion of said course.
Course Structure
Internship of 4 credits should be completed in Semester IV and V.
