Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGIS)

The course aims to give the students a sound background in theory and practice of Computer Applications in various fields. It comprises of various software and hardware subjects. The syllabus of the course confirms to the requirements prescribed by the Goa University and is recognized as a professional course by the Goa University.

Overview

The Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGIS) is a one-year postgraduate programme designed to provide specialized knowledge and technical skills in the field of geospatial technologies. The programme focuses on the integration and application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and Global Positioning System (GPS) in understanding and solving real-world spatial problems.
The curriculum is carefully structured to combine theoretical concepts with practical training, enabling students to develop competencies in spatial data handling, analysis, visualization, and interpretation. The programme emphasizes hands-on learning through laboratory work, field-based data collection, and project work using industry-relevant software and tools.
PGDGIS prepares students to apply geospatial techniques across diverse domains such as urban planning, environmental management, disaster risk reduction, and resource management. The programme also aims to build analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills required for both professional practice and advanced academic pursuits.
